The authorization for a credit card transaction has been denied. In the direct API response and in the transaction overview of Computop Analytics I receive the Paygate Parameter "Code" = xxxx1542 / xxxx0366. Whats is the reason for this?

If an authorization is denied by the card-issuing bank (issuer) in connection with Paygate code "xxxx1542 / xxxx0366", this is a soft decline. It means that generally, the relevant transaction is missing Strong Customer Authentication. The transaction can be resubmitted via Computop Paygate, however, it should include 3-DS Authentication data.

In detail, the soft decline mentioned above may have the following causes:

1) The transaction has not been submitted via the 3-DS / 3-DS2 protocol and does not contain any SCA exemption flags. However, at the same time, the card-issuing bank (issuer) has already started to issue soft declines for transactions without 3-DS authentication.

Troubleshooting: The transaction must be resubmitted via 3-D Secure or 3-D Secure 2.

2) The transaction has not been submitted via the 3-DS / 3-DS2 protocol and does not contain SCA exemption flags, because the transaction is supposed to be a merchant initiated transaction (subsequent recurring, unscheduled MIT) or MOTO transaction.

Troubleshooting: The flagging must be adapted to the COF framework. The data field "schemeReferenceId" must be transmitted. Details can be found in our online documentation.

3) The transaction has not been submitted via the 3-DS / 3-DS2 protocol, but is provided with SCA exemption flags. The excemption flags are correct, but the issuer did not accept the exemption(s).

Issue resolved: The transaction must be resubmitted via 3-D Secure or 3-D Secure 2.
